“I wanted to pitch without any burden before the game, but I had a lot of thoughts because it was my first appearance of the season”.

Won Tae-in (Samsung), the ‘blue-blooded ace’, showed impressive pitching in his first appearance of the season. Unfortunately, he did not become a winning pitcher, but it made him look forward to his next appearance even more.

Won Tae-in started in the home game against Hanwha held at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on the 4th, recording 4 hits, 4 walks, 3 strikeouts and 3 runs in 5 innings. He reached a maximum speed of 150 km and threw a variety of pitches, including slider, curve, cut fastball, and changeup.

The start was not good. With the bases loaded in the first inning, he gave up three runs with Brian O’Gredi’s two RBIs and Kim Tae-yeon’s center fielder’s sacrifice fly. He finished the first inning by disposing of Moon Hyun-bin as a fly ball to second base.

Won Tae-in regained a sense of stability from the second episode. Won Tae-in, who eliminated Choi Jae-hoon (center fielder fly), Park Jung-hyeon (1st base grounder), and Lee Myeong-ki (2nd base grounder), got two out counts by handling Jeong Eun-won and Noh Si-hwan as floating balls in the outfield in the third inning. He gave up a heavy hit to Chae Eun-seong, but struck out O’Grady with a missed swing.

Won Tae-in, who was hit to the left by lead batter Kim Tae-yeon in the 4th inning, grounded Mun Hyun-bin to shortstop. Kim Tae-yeon was out at second base. Due to a check error, the runner advanced one base, but Choi Jae-hoon and Park Jung-hyun were struck out with a fly in center field and a swinging miss, respectively.

After 2 outs in the 5th inning, Won Tae-in seemed to be in danger again with Noh Si-hwan and Chae Eun-sung’s consecutive walks, but he sighed by striking out O’Grady. Won Tae-in, who met the winning pitcher requirements, was replaced in the sixth inning with a 5-3 lead. However, Won Tae-in’s first win of the season was canceled because the gyetoo-jin allowed a tie. Thanks to Jose Pirella’s home run in the 7th inning, Samsung defeated Hanwha 7-6 and won two consecutive victories.

After the game, Won Tae-in said, “I wanted to pitch without any burden before the game, but I had a lot of thoughts because it was the first appearance of the season. I think it was difficult to win the game while giving walks.”  메이저놀이터

He continued, “After the first inning, (Kang) Minho gave me advice to pitch aggressively instead of avoiding it. Thanks to Minho, my balance improved and my release point improved, so I was able to finish pitching without conceding any additional runs.” marked

Lastly, he said, “It was a game that lacked a lot in the first game of the season. I had a lot of thoughts about giving up walks. I pitched regretfully today, but I will do my best to pitch well in the next game.”
