Is Harry Maguire, 30, available for sale?
“Manchester United have rejected a £20 million bid from West Ham United for Maguire,” the Telegraph reported on Sept. 29.
“West Ham manager Davies Moyes wants to add Maguire to his squad next season, and the Hammers made the first move. However, United rejected their offer. United value Maguire at between £40 million and £50 million. The player’s weekly wage of £190,000 ($312,000) is a major obstacle to such a transfer.”
“West Ham have had a bid for Maguire rejected,” says The Athletic. Moyes wants Maguire, but given his wages, it’s doubtful the Hammers will push on.”
Maguire joined United from Leicester City in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £74.5 million. He quickly established himself in the first team and was named captain when Ashley Young left for Inter Milan in his debut season. He remained a key player until the 2021-22 season. In English Premier League (EPL) terms, he has played 30 or more games in three consecutive seasons since joining the club.
However, he was completely pushed aside in the 2022-23 season. Before the start of the season, head coach Eric ten Haag was appointed and Lissandro Martinez joined the club in the summer transfer window. Ten Hagh favored a combination of Lisandro and Raphael Varane, with Maguire on the bench alongside Victor Lindelof. A hamstring injury added to his woes, limiting him to 16 EPL appearances (759 minutes). Even when he was on the pitch, his performances were quite poor.
At the end of the season, he was stripped of the captaincy. “Bruno Fernandez has been appointed as the new captain of Manchester United,” the club announced on its website. He has already worn the captain’s armband on several occasions. Louis van Gaal is delighted to confirm Bruno as the club’s new captain.” Maguire said: “I’ve spoken to Van Gaal. I am very disappointed, but I will continue to give my best every time I pull on the shirt. Leading United as captain for the last three and a half years has been very special. It was one of the proudest moments of my career.” 메이저놀이터
He has been linked with multiple clubs. Along with West Ham, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and Tottenham Hotspur were among those linked. The Hammers were the only serious contender, and they made a £20 million offer. However, United immediately rejected the offer as it did not meet their valuation.
At this rate, he’s likely to stay. First of all, Maguire doesn’t seem to want to leave. “It is unclear if Maguire is even willing to move to West Ham,” the Telegraph explains. Also, the Hammers can’t afford to spend much on a transfer given Maguire’s weekly wages. It’s a case of stockpiling deadwood.
