Mason Mount has opened up about his decision to leave Chelsea and join Manchester United.

The Red Devils officially announced the signing of Mount on Friday. The contract is for five years with an option for a one-year extension. According to local media, the transfer fee is £60 million with options. Mount will wear the number 7 shirt, which has been worn by the likes of George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mount has been with Chelsea since childhood. He came up through the Chelsea youth system and made his first-team debut. There were loan spells in between, but Chelsea has always been his home, and after 18 years, he’s looking for a new challenge. 토토사이트 순위

According to global sports publication The Athletic, Mount told club channel MUTV: “A few months ago, it became clear that I was not part of Chelsea’s future plans. When I heard that Manchester United had entered the race for my signature, I made a decision,” he said of his move.

Mount was under contract at Chelsea until next summer. Chelsea tried to re-sign him with one year left on his contract but could not reach an agreement. There were disagreements over contract terms. Chelsea were unwilling to pay Mount the high weekly wages he was asking for when he was not performing as well as he had in the past.

As a result, a transfer was rumored towards the end of last season. He was linked to Liverpool and Arsenal, both of whom were looking to bolster their midfields, before United stepped up to the plate. Mount reportedly favored United.

“It’s a huge club. Great players have played here. I wanted to be one of them, and the goal was to come in quickly and be ready for the start of pre-season,” he said of his move to United.

“I always saw myself as a ‘number eight’ midfielder. I can go forward and attack and try to create goals, but I can also support the team and contribute to the defense when we are under pressure,” he said, adding, “I know what I can do in this team. It’s time to put it into action.”
