SSG Landers’ new foreign pitcher Kirk McCarty (27) raised expectations by recording a maximum speed of 146 km in his first bullpen pitching.
According to the SSG team on the 3rd, McCarty pitched in the bullpen during spring training held at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex in Vero Beach, Florida on the 1st.
McCarty threw a total of 25 pitches, including fastballs (11), cut fastballs (4), curveballs (3), sliders (2) and forkballs (5). He recorded a top speed of 146 km/h.
McCarty, who finished pitching, said, 안전놀이터 “I was generally satisfied with my condition and fingertip sensation.”
“It’s been a while since I joined the team, but I feel good because all the players and coaching staff welcomed me,” he added.
“I will try to start the season in perfect physical condition without getting hurt during the camp,” he said.
Pitching coach Jo Ung-cheon, who watched McCarty’s pitching, said, “The fastball power is good even though I haven’t used 100% of my power yet.”
Meanwhile, McCarty was selected by the Cleveland Guardians with the 222nd overall pick in the 7th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball Draft.
In the 2022 season, he finally became a big leaguer, and he appeared in 13 major league games and digested 37⅔ innings, recording 4 wins and 3 losses with an average ERA of 4.54.
In December of last year, he signed a contract with SSG for a total of $775,000, including an annual salary of $600,000 and an option of $175,000, and chose the KBO League.
